The Full Story About Bali Beyond Travel

A story built on love, frustration, and wanting something better, for travellers and for Bali.

I first came to Bali around 2016, and from that trip I knew, without a doubt, that I wanted to live here. It wasn’t just the beaches or the temples. It was the feeling. The warmth. The people. The weather. The way Indonesians move through the world with patience, softness, and generosity. The slower pace. The low-expectation culture that makes daily life feel lighter.

I loved the respect, the kindness, the sharing, the way families raise their children, the way even small moments feel meaningful. I felt at home in a way I never had in Australia, even after moving to Queensland for “better weather.” Bali was the place my body and mind relaxed.

Over the years, my family kept coming back. We built a close relationship with our local Balinese family and an incredibly loyal driver who had been with us for decades. And as someone who understood both cultures, Indonesian and Australian, I could see the gaps that so many travellers struggled with.

Where the business idea really began

I was watching the Bali Facebook groups fill with:

-
drivers spamming every question
-
misinformation being thrown around like fact
-
outdated visa advice
-
travellers getting overwhelmed, confused, or ripped off
-
solo female travellers scared to come alone
-
tourists not understanding “yes culture” and getting the wrong thing booked
-

It frustrated me. Not because drivers were trying, they’re doing their best to survive, but because travellers were constantly getting lost in the noise. No clarity. No real guidance. No cultural respect. No one actually listening to what they needed.

So I created my own Bali group, a quiet, clean space with no driver spam. Just real, honest advice and support.

And from there, the idea grew.

Why Bali Beyond Travel exists

I didn’t want to be “another driver service.” Bali already has thousands of those.

I wanted to create something that:

-
protects travellers from overwhelm and bad information
-
gives solo female travellers a safe, calm experience
-
supports local people and creates real income opportunities
-
honours the cultural heart of Bali
-
offers meaningful experiences, not cookie-cutter tours
-
bridges the communication gap between locals and Western travellers
-
gives small villages and cultural artisans a way to keep their traditions alive
My goal has always been simple:
Help travellers experience the real Bali — while supporting the people who make Bali what it is.

Growing into hosted group experiences
As the business grew, so did the vision.
I realised groups and leaders were looking for something deeper than sightseeing, they wanted wellness, connection, growth, culture, and a beautifully organised experience without the chaos.

My own mentor planted the seed for hosting Bali group experiences, and suddenly it all made sense. Leaders bring their community; I build the Bali they dream, respectfully, seamlessly, and with absolute care.

It creates income for local partners, keeps cultural work alive, and gives visitors an experience that genuinely changes them.
